Sustainability for a greener future
We’re aware that we all need to do more to tackle climate change, which means that a focus on sustainability will be even more crucial in 2024. We only use recycled uPVC, helping to reduce material wastage, and our supplier has led the way in uPVC recycling for more than 20 years.
As a material, uPVC is robust and long-lasting, so there will be no need to replace it for many years to come. Natural looks are back
Following on from the sustainability theme, in 2024 there will be an emphasis on natural looks and aesthetic appeal. This is reflected in our popular wood-effect windows, combining the elegant beauty of timber with the low maintenance, high performance benefits of uPVC. Wood-effect is virtually indistinguishable from real timber and doesn’t rot, warp or discolour, providing both environmental conservation and aesthetic appeal. For example, our sliding sash windows feature a range of traditional stylings that can be complemented beautifully with wood-effect, including the choices of rosewood, Irish oak, and golden oak to finish the window in style.
Move into modernism
Various organisations across the country have led the call for higher standards in the style of new homes being built, and in 2024 we think this demand will be heeded by progressive companies. The choice of tilt and turn windows is a great one for the architect-designed look, especially in apartment buildings. As the name suggests, this window can be tilted inwards from the bottom of the frame, or open like a traditional casement window, but opening inwards. The tilt and turn is a stylish, very 21st century window that maximises ventilation throughout your home.
Triple the effect
Despite predictions of interest rate falls during 2024, there is little doubt that the overall cost-of-living crisis is still firmly with us. This is particularly true of heating bills, which are set to rise in early 2024. Double glazed uPVC plays an important part in the fight to keep bills down, and householders might also consider a triple glazed alternative. This really does work hard to retain heat and keep a home warmer without having to turn up the heating. It can also help reduce external noise to a minimum – important if you live alongside one of Yorkshire’s many busy roads!
A time for timelessness
Despite changes in tastes and the advances of technology, some things endure down the years. Take the humble casement window, for example. This style of window has been in vogue for at least 300 years and its popularity shows no signs of abating. Our casements are chockful of versatility: they can have a side-hung opening or top-hung opening, and can be made in either a chamfered design for a more contemporary look or an ovolo frame that features sculptured beading.
